Trump Invites Families of Attacked National Guard Members to the White House

Former President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the presidential home.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Devastating Event

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both members of the state National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president told the press. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”

Public Response

Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to aid law enforcement in Washington DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“Sarah was the type of pupil that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the head of her former high school, informed the press. “She was kind, compassionate and always eager to help others.”

Memorial plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Policy Adjustments

Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The event caused the administration to halt asylum applications and halt issuing entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on the program that she aimed to visit Wolfe’s family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with honor, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had courage,” he addressed the gathering at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
