Loyal followers of the pop star are urging that a individual who jumped a barrier and grabbed the celebrity during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.
A viral footage reveals the person identified as Johnson Wen bypassing media personnel and lunging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a promenade accompanied by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "free after being taken in", though court documents revealed that he was set to be present on the following morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram account includes recordings of him disturbing other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last December.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," stated an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user wrote.
Numerous followers accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed experiencing PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote one more comment on Instagram.
Some supporters also faulted security officers at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while others demanded online networks to block Mr Wen's content.
In clips shared widely, Grande looked startled when she was approached by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Hundreds of fans had congregated in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore venue, including a number who had waited for as long as many hours before it began.
The movie, to be premiered on 21 November, is the follow-up of a two-film interpretation of the acclaimed theatrical production Wicked, which revolves around the surprising bond between two contrasting sorceresses.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a rosé sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were joined by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of last year in the UK, and scored ten Academy Award nods, earning a pair for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
