Christantus Uche Fuels Straightforward Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their first-ever European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight entry to the knockout stages, especially after a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Moment

This occasion offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second game in match.

A Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season were no match against a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee waved away the appeals.

The formerArsenal man did not have wait long to get his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Pino Wraps Up the Contest

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
