Cars in Germany's City Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police stated they were alerted by a individual who found a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials report preliminary tests show the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.

An important official stated the incident rendered him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
