US entertainer Pat Finn, who was seen in popular television series including "Friends", "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has succumbed at 60 years old.

The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California this Monday having undergone cancer treatment from 2022 onward, per media reports.

"Pat never met a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his family said in a message.

They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

A Notable TV Career

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, portraying a party host who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of hit series, including:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for playing the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.

His work in movies encompass It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Beyond the Screen

Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a comedy group of six named "Beer Shark Mice".

"He coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he shared online.

The actor is survived by his partner Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
