Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was natural for doubts to be raised about his position following another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, marking the team's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received significant support from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win obviously but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I accept my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal exchanges I sense the trust. However I've not talked to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted familiar shortcomings from his team in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell like this with performances this poor.”

Jones finished, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we’re always going to compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to its rightful place, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and it must improve.”
